History[]
Marriott era (1976-1983)[]
On May 29, 1976, County Fair opened as one of Great America's six original themed areas. County Fair opened with five rides: Turn of the Century, a looping steel roller coaster by Vekoma; Fiddler's Fling, a scrambler-style ride; the Ameri-Go-Round, a carousel for kids; and the Great America Raceway.
For the park's second season in 1977, the Hay Baler opened. This flat ride was located in a themed barn.
In 1981, American Eagle opened. This racing wooden roller coaster by Intamin was the first of its kind.
Six Flags era (1984-present)[]
For the 1997 season, Dare Devil Dive was introduced. It is a Skycoaster attraction similar to those found at many other Six Flags parks.
In 2004, Revolution opened.
